![]() This can be caused by many different factors, so complete and thorough troubleshooting on this issue is needed. Loss of line sync occurs when your modem's "DSL" “Broadband”, or "Line Sync" light is flashing or completely off. It must be present for anything to work properly. Line sync is to DSL internet what Dial-Tone is to your normal home phone. An AP placed properly will expand both your WiFi coverage and your overall bandwidth.Troubleshooting or "ADSL" or "DSL" or "Broadband" light is blinking or off on modem/gateway Unless your place is small tri-band is probably not the solution as it only helps if everything is close to the router. Quite a few of my smart devices actually do operate on the 5ghz band as well.Īgain adding an AP is likely your best option here. If has modern SQM QoS which can keep your latency low no matter what games or applications you use online.īefore the Ac68u started going it managed that ok before until I added a few more Google home devices to it as well. The X4S is actually a much better router than the X6S. One router that does have good QoS in a similar range is the Nighthawk X4S. Problem is that none of the routers in question have decent QoS. If your upload gets maxed out then your download and latency will suffer. I'm assuming you have a normal cable connection with 150 Mbps down but far less upload. The only thing that might help is QoS but only if you need it. I am also hoping to improving on my ping a bit. ![]() If range is your issue and mesh didn't solve the problem then you need to add an access point. Any router other than total crap is going to be at that limit. All routers have their power output limited by law. I am mainly hoping to at least get a bit of a boost, primarily a stronger 5ghz signal.įailing routers aside, nothing is going to give you a significantly better signal on 5 GHz. Tri-band does nothing to help range so if that is your issue it will not help. The X6S and C4000 do have tri band which will help give more bandwidth for multiple devices, but only if they support 5 GHz and only if they are close to the router. Those "faster" wireless speeds cannot be used by 99.9% of client devices so they offer no benefit. If your clients have bad WiFi then replacing your router will do nothing. Ok if it is failing then that is different, but you likely need another equivalent router instead of something overpriced.Įven before it didn't seem to handle 2 4k streams at once well without getting buffering issues etc.įirst off do you have enough bandwidth from your ISP to handle 2 4K streams? Second what exactly are you streaming with? IE what are your client devices? Your clients will get the exact same wireless link speed to any of those new routers vs a working AC68U. Part of the problem seems to be hardware failure honestly - I've tried resetting and reflashing etc but I keep getting band drops on both the 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz. u/RoweDent created this awesome resource on network theory u/tht1kidd_ has created a suggestion post regarding information everyone needs to provide when asking a question about their network There have been some excellent guides written in this sub, and we're always looking for more!
